It may seem like a strange concept, but using oil in daily skin regimens was once considered a faux-pas! Now, oil reigns as one of the greenest beauty ingredients and to good reason.
Making the switch to body oils from conventional lotions can feel overwhelming but it is more than worth trading up. Natural body oils absorb more deeply into the skin than lotions and keep your skin nourished for much longer. Wynnya’s new line of body oils will change the way you take care of your skin. Now you can choose from three different delicious fragrances – Camelot, You & Me = Us, Turkish Delight Nights.
Body oils also contain powerful nutrients to firm and improve the condition of your skin. Keeping your skin moisturized and nourished is paramount to your skincare routine. Once you’ve tried our natural body oils, your lotions will become a thing of the past. Here are more reasons why you should swap your lotion for our body oils.Essential Oils: Formulated with 100% pure therapeutic essential oils, Wynnya’s body oils can help repair, heal and tone your skin. Most conventional lotions and some body oils include synthetic fragrances that can be harmful to your health.
Carrier Oils: Wynnya is using natural dry oils. This might sound to you a bit like an oxymoron and you are not alone. Something liquid, wet and moisturising can be dry??? Dry refers to the rate at which the oil is absorbed into the skin and hairNon-Toxic Ingredients: A massive number of lotions include synthetic chemicals that can enter your bloodstream. Many, if not most, conventional lotions contain mineral oil which is a liquid mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum. Yuck! It can also lead to premature aging of the skin and clogged pores. Toxic chemicals, like parabens, are also commonly added to lotions. Parabens can disrupt your hormone receptors and possibly cause breast cancer. Wynnya’s body oils are made from pure, natural ingredients so you can moisturize without worry. Natural Beauty: Because our body oils are entirely pure, the whole family can benefit from this liquid gold. To help increase the look of healthy skin, use the oil at night before bed and enjoy glowing skin in the morning. After massaging the dry body oil gently into your skin, wipe your hands through the tips of your hair, for extra nourishment and added shine and style. Therapeutic Aroma: Again, essential oils make all the difference when it comes to skincare. In addition to deeply nourishing your skin, the body oil will make you radiate a natural perfume with complexity and softness. Essential oils have more high-end, elegant aromas than chemical fragrances used in traditional lotions. Once you go with essential oils, you will never go back.

Our Face Serum is packed with a number of fantastic ingredients, but the main ingredient is the Kalahari Melon Seed Oil.
The Kalahari Melon is a prehistoric, evolutionary ancestor of the common watermelon. It is native to the Kalahari desert – one of the driest places on earth – and serves as a vital lifeline for the local San people who rely on this fruit to be a crucial source of water. In fact, the San only cross the Kalahari in melon season, as they know that without it they won’t survive.
The oil pressed from the Kalahari Melon seeds contains one of the highest concentrations of Linoleic Acid, an omega-6 essential fatty acid with well known benefits for healthy living. It is a natural component of the skin barrier, and is well known to have exceptional skincare benefits. It promotes healing, is anti-inflammatory, and is proven to improve senile dryness and skin atrophy (thinness). KMS oil is an incredibly user friendly oil. It is one of the least greasy oils and therefore doesn’t clog pores as it penetrates the skin exceptionally quickly.

So…why would you choose a wooden wick over a traditional cotton wick? Oh, let me count the reasons!
Our candles using wooden wicks create a truly unique visual AND audible experience. That’s right – you’re getting a beautiful flickering flame and a soft crackling sound that’s reminiscent of cozy nights by a fireplace. What’s not to love?
Wooden wicks also produce a distinctive flat horizontal flame, which give a modern and uncommon quality to your candle. I love the shape of this flame compared to the normal run-of-the-mill flame of a cotton wick. Been there, done that! Also, wooden wicks don’t ‘mushroom’ the way cotton wicks do! That means minimal carbon buildup and minimal debris and sooting.
So, aside from a beautiful and unique appearance, a soothing crackling sound, and an excellent burn, you might think “done deal, I’m sold!” but wait, there’s more! As a candlemaker, wooden wicks are also easier to use. Since wooden wicks are rigid, they require no setting with a wick bar, no straightening or fidgeting with. Set-up is super simple, requiring only setting them in the wick sustainer and placing them in the vessel with a glue dot. Easy-peasy!
It’s a Fact, You Planted a Tree
Here is a wooden wick fact we can all get excited about… For every $100 spent by using wooden wicks, our supplier plants a tree through Trees for the Future. You’ve helped them plant well over 50,000 trees to date!
If you are like us, you might be thinking “how nice, we can help make the world a little greener.” While that is true, planting trees does make the world a little bit greener, what we did not realize at first glance was the true significance of what this simple gesture can help accomplish. Planting trees through Trees for the Future is changing people’s lives forever.
Trees for the Future currently has 14 projects underway in five countries. Through their Forest Garden Program, planting specific types of trees and crops in a systematic manner, families are provided with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, fuel wood and up to a 500% increase in their annual income.
When you plant trees through Trees for the Future:
- You create educational opportunities for children.
- You empower women.
- You build strong communities.
- You permanently increase the income of poor farmers.
- You help families to feed themselves.
- You provide permanent and seasonal employment.
- You provide fuel wood so villagers don’t need to cut down trees.
- You create fodder to feed livestock.
- You give the world a way to end the battle between farms and forests to revitalize and improve soil quality.
- You reverse environmental degradation, restore biodiversity and remove megatons of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
- You change people’s lives for the better. Forever.

Beeswax Candles—the light in Eskom’s darkness
I love my quiet weekends melting, pouring and rolling beeswax candles for you. I deeply inhaled the thick, honey-fragranced air in my kitchen, as I meditatively poured the golden, molten beeswax. Besides mastering the rare art of beeswax candle making, I also learned along the way some important chemistry and health lessons from my craft. Namely, the toxic effects of paraffin candles and the unique air -purifying properties of 100% beeswax candles. Hundreds of years ago, most candles were made of beeswax. But over the centuries, beeswax candles were gradually replaced by animal fat candles, and then in the last century by paraffin candles.
Paraffin candles are probably the kind you have in your home right now. It sounds innocent enough, but paraffin is made from the sludge at the bottom of barrels of crude oil, which is then treated and bleached with benzene and other chemical solvents to “clean it up” for use in candles. Since burning petrochemical paraffin smells bad, synthetic fragrance oils are added, many of which are irritating and even toxic themselves when they’re burned. Breathing what paraffin candles give off has been compared to breathing diesel fumes.
Did you know that beeswax candles clean the air when they burn?
Beeswax releases negative ions when it burns. Pollen, dust, dirt, pollutants, and any other junk in the air all carry a positive charge and that is how they can be suspended in the air. The negative ions released from burning beeswax negate the positive charge of air contaminants, and the neutralized ions are sucked back into the burning candle or fall to the ground. Many air purifiers and water filters harness this effective negative ion technology. Because beeswax candles clean the air and reduce indoor pollutants, they can effectively reduce asthma, allergies, and hay fever. Plus, beeswax candles actually burn slower, so you’ll get more for your money than if you opted for the cheaper versions. There’s not much hard evidence on beeswax’s health benefits, but if it’s possible that something as simple as burning a candle might be able to help your respiratory problems, it’s at least worth a try. During loadshedding, you can makes sure you and your loved ones are getting healthier AND saving money.
Comparison between Beeswax and Paraffin Candles
- Beeswax costs about 10 times more than paraffin.
- It is rare as it is estimated that the bees must fly 150,000 miles to collect enough nectar to produce six pounds of honey just to secrete one pound of wax. And for every 100 pounds of honey harvested, the beekeeper can only obtain about 1-2 pounds of the beeswax.
- . Environmentally friendly, safe and non-toxic.
- Beeswax candles burn very clean and emit very little smoke. This is because it is not oil based and is 100% beeswax and undergoes no chemical processing. Even better, they are biodegradable!
- Beeswax candles smell great as they are naturally scented by the honey and floral nectar in the honeycomb, furthermore they are carbon-neutral.
- They have a high melting point (in fact the highest among all known waxes) which results in a significantly longer (2-5 times) burn time and drip very little, if any at all. This offsets their higher cost.
- They burn stronger and brighter and emit naturally bright light of the same light spectrum as the sun. They are a gift from nature!
- The only candle that emits negative ions to purify, cleanse, improve air quality, and invigorate the body. A natural ionizer!
- Hypo-allergenic, benefit those with environmental allergies, sensitivities, and asthma. Paraffin: Are to be avoided by those with allergies or asthma conditions
- Easily available and cheap, paraffin candles make up 95% of the world's candle production.
- An oil-based, highly refined petroleum by-product that contains up to 11 toxic compounds and chemicals such as benzene and toluene.
- Emit toxic diesel exhaust-like fumes.
- A black sludge that is treated with 100% industrial strength bleach to change its colour to white, creating toxic dioxins.
- Contain artificial dyes and synthetic fragrances which also produce toxins and stains when burned, adding to the environmental damage. Some paraffin candles contain lead wicks.
- Short burning and drip excessively, which means that they may not be that economical after all. Additional chemicals can be added to reduce dripping.
- The flame that paraffin candles produce a flame pales in comparison to the beeswax candle.
- They produce harmful black soot that leaves streaks of black residue and stains home interior surfaces
Be careful, there are no regulations on disclosing candle ingredients. Candles labelled as "beeswax" may be predominantly made of paraffin and contain as little as 5% beeswax. At least you know with your Wynnya Beeswax candle that it is created by the bees. Wynnya candles are 100% natural and completely chemical-free. It is the oldest candle known to man and prized since ancient times.
