The temptation to purchase beautiful products from different countries online is very big, but there are many reasons to “support local”.
In South Africa we are often confronted with the “same old stuff”, however year-end markets and events are a showcase of amazing entrepreneurial products across the country.
It’s a new year with new steam, new choices, new ideas and new expectations – we are all confronted with changes coming our way, whether we like them or not.
How can I contribute to a better city, country and planet ? How can I help my own neighbourhood flourish economically? How can I start to go a little greener, month by month, to become healthier and more sustainable?
The answer is by supporting your local businesses and entrepreneurs. “Local is lekker” is not just a beautiful South African saying, it’s our country’s mission and a chance for positive, lasting change!
Seasonal local food tastes better and is better for our health – plus we support local farmers at the same time! Thankfully we are blessed with a wide variety of outstanding products in South Africa!
In the past few years we’ve discovered that even Wynnya’s natural skin care products don’t travel too well. Due to having no preservatives in the products, carrier oils and essential oils like to stay away from big temperature changes, as experienced in planes or on ships. Shelf life is cut short dramatically as my family in Switzerland will confirm. Customers supporting Wynnya and taking their favourite body oil, body butter or deodorant across the sea to Australia or America have reported that “they’re not the same anymore”.
I tell them the same as I’ll tell you: Support your local organic skin and health care entrepreneurs, because every country has their own beautiful and brilliant products. Support your local brands because “local is lekker!”
